The Marie from Haiti Song

Almost every major event has a song. Composed by the author of “Christian and Corinne in the Country of the Dolls” at the end of January, 2010, that whose English and French lyrics appear below is one of those songs. It will soon be released and sung on You Tube as “The Marie From Haiti Song”. Its melody is sad and haunting, as are the tragic events that have befallen this unfortunate land.

THE Marie From Haiti Song

My name, my name, my name is Marie from Haiti
I travel from town, from town to lonely town
I travel from place, from place to lonely place
In search of a HOME I can someday call my own…

Oh where, Oh where can this perfect place be?
Is it there? Is it here in the land of liberty?
Is it here? Is it there far across the lonely sea
In a land where people live in peace and harmony?

I search and I search for this treasure within my so small a grasp
I am searching and I am searching for this treasure I long to clasp…

My nom--- my name, my name is Marie from Haiti
I travel from town, from town to lonely town
I travel from place, from place to lonely place
In search of a HOME I will someday call my own…

Oh please, oh please- Oh please come and help me
Oh please, oh please-Oh please poor, poor me
Oh please, oh please- oh please pity me
My name, my name, my name is Marie from Haiti…

I keep searching and searching for this treasure within my so little, little grasp

My name, mon nom…
